Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism and Academic Integrity Policy

The International Innovations Journal of Applied Science (IIJAS) upholds the highest principles of academic integrity and ethical publishing in strict alignment with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Elsevier Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication.
Plagiarism in any form — including full plagiarism, partial plagiarism, or self-plagiarism — is strictly prohibited.
All manuscripts must be entirely original and include appropriate acknowledgment and citation of all referenced sources. Any verified violation results in immediate rejection or retraction.

Plagiarism Detection and Threshold

All submitted manuscripts are screened using Turnitin Plagiarism Detection Software prior to the peer-review process.

  • Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 20% will be rejected.

  • Similarity within the reference section must not exceed 5%.

  • Authors will be notified if issues are detected and may be given one opportunity to revise when appropriate.

  • Cases of deliberate or repeated plagiarism will result in blacklisting of the author(s) and notification of their affiliated institution or funding body.

Types of Plagiarism

  • Full Plagiarism: Copying previously published work without modification, acknowledgment, or citation.

  • Partial Plagiarism: Using or paraphrasing portions from multiple sources without proper referencing.

  • Self-Plagiarism: Republishing or reusing substantial parts of one’s previously published work without proper citation or disclosure.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

IIJAS does not accept manuscripts fully generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.
If AI-assisted tools are used for language refinement, data visualization, or limited text generation, authors must:

  • Clearly disclose AI use in the Acknowledgments section.

  • Remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and ethical compliance of the manuscript.

Failure to disclose AI involvement may result in rejection or post-publication retraction.

Editorial Screening and Corrective Actions

  1. Initial Screening:
All submissions undergo editorial screening for originality, citation accuracy, and proper acknowledgment before peer review.

  2. Investigation:
If plagiarism is suspected, authors are contacted and required to provide a written clarification within two weeks.

  3. Fact-Finding Committee:
A special committee may be established to investigate the extent and intent of the misconduct.

  4. Confirmed Misconduct:

    • Immediate retraction of the article from the journal website and databases.

    • Notification of the author’s affiliated university or funding institution.

    • Official retraction notice linked to the article’s DOI.

    • Suspension or permanent ban from future submissions.

Commitment to Ethical Scholarship

IIJAS is committed to protecting intellectual property, maintaining transparency, and fostering originality in scientific publishing.
All editorial decisions regarding plagiarism and misconduct follow COPE flowcharts and international research ethics standards.
